Marti and Me Club
      Marti and Me club is all about learning a new template. The class which will meet on Tuesday, November 17th from 1 to 4. Carol will show us the Lobster Cactus Block which will make a table topper from Book 2 which everyone will receive for watching the Demo. Be sure to bring your book if you attended last month. This uses sets A and C, or B and D depending on the size you would like to achieve. The next club will be held on Tuesday, December 15th.
     Each month, Marti and Me opens up our minds to patterns and templates to see what the capabilities of each tool can be. You are welcome to come and sew or come and go.   Marti's templates are so accurate that they make the hardest shapes easy. We also have a card made by Marti that you can mark all the templates you have purchased and carry it with you so you will not duplicate any of these handy items.

Mariner's Compass Star Paper Piecing Class
Have you ever wanted to learn to Paper Piece?  Judy Coghill will be teaching the ease of Paper Piecing while making some drop dead gorgeous Mariner's Compass Star Blocks to be used in a table runner or quilt.   Saturday, November 14th from 11 to closing at 3pm..   We will copy the Stars being used that day so you will be able to use our Paper Piecing Paper. The cost of this class is $10 for the instruction. Be sure to purchase the book and the add a quarter ruler to help with the piecing.


Frosty's Gone Shopping Shop Hop
We have four Indiana shops and two Ohio shops going together for this Christmas filled week. At all the shops you will receive a free pattern to make a Disappearing four patch with a twist quilt among other items. This is a wonderful way to get started on your Christmas list and purchase something for everyone on your list. The hop is open from 10 to 5pm from Tuesday, November 3rd to Saturday, November 7th - Our CHristmas Open House. Be sure to mark these days on your calendar. You do not want to miss this hop.



Floriani Embroidery Club 
 
For everyone who attends the Floriani Event we are offering free classes to help you learn the software and create fabulous designs. Diane will be helping you explore the wonderful world of Floriani and how the software works with your embroidery machine. Every two weeks for the next two months and beyond we will explore the world of Floriani. These Mondays will be on November 9th and 23rd from 10 to 5 pm. We now have a T.V. from which you will be watching what Diane is doing on her computer. We will watch many different information videos which will help us accomplish many more beautiful designs. November 30th we will be learning the MDQ II program. This program helps you quilt in embroidery designs. If you have purchased this program be sure to attend and see what amazing quilt designs you will be making. This class is from 10 to 2 pm.


If you are a beginner Embroiderer and you would like to learn, Thursday, November 5th is for you.  Diane will help you with a project or with something you have started. Or maybe you might like to learn about your machine by embroidering your first design. It doesn't matter what direction you are wanting to go, Diane and Lydia will help you learn what you can do with your embroidery machine.  Be sure to email us so we can get you on our Embroidery Club News Flash group that includes pictures of what you will be working on.  Bring in suggestions of what you would like to work on.  We understand not everyone wants to create the same thing so we will help you with whatever you want to work on.  We will also be demonstrating how to create some of your own designs and techniques in the Floriani software.  We will be available to work with you from 10 to 5 on these dates: Thursday, November 5th and again on December 3rd.


Stitcher's Garden  1 and 2
Stitcher's Garden will be on Tuesday, November 2nd from 10 am to 5 pm.  Feel free to join us no matter what block you are on or if you want to get started.   We have students who are on their first block and others on their 6th block while others are putting on their borders.  Please come and we will help you get started.
 
Both Stitcher's Gardens are a Block of the Month program that gives you the opportunity to learn to use your sewing machine and feet.  You are welcome to begin either class at anytime. 

   A few of the techniques used include:
* PINTUCKING
* TWIN and WING needles
* BOBBINWORK has been stepped up for more challenges on the flower and leaves using not only #5 Perle cotton but an 1/8" polyester satin ribbon.
* TWISTED floss in front of the needle on vines.
* FRINGE or TAILOR TACK foot is used around one of the centers for a looped edging.
* COUCHING rick rack and 1/8" ribbon adds another dimension to the blocks.
* CIRCULAR attachment is used to create a flower and border.
* RUFFLER is a new foot being featured to create three flowers.
* BINDER foot is another new foot being featured not to bind the quilt but to add an accent edge to the corner triangles and the edge of the binding.
 
Stitcher's Garden 2 has a machine embroidery version along with an applique version. This quilt is for those who loved the first quilt and want to learn even more.  Let us know if  you want to sign up for these classes so we can have the patterns ready for you. Every month we have customers who decide to join this class.
Stitcher's Garden  will be on November 2nd from 10 am to 5 pm and again on December 1st.


$5 Saturday Club
Our $5 Saturday will be on November 14th. PARK BENCH QUILT has two blocks each month for only $5 if you attend the class. We are using JayBird Quilts book Park Bench to make this quilt along with their templates. Come enjoy making this quilt with all the memories of what you see on a Park Bench.
                


Sarah's Sampler
Jennifer Chiaverini has a wonderful quilt which she wrote about called Sarah's Sampler. Donna Peyerk will be teaching this quilt on Thursday, November 19th from 10 to 5 pm. This quilt is a wonderful way to learn the basics of piecing a quilt. We have a sample in the shop to view. You will need a book and all your fabrics to make this quilt. The cost of this class is $10 per month.


Amish with a Twist
If you like the traditional Quilt using solids, log cabin blocks and other great piecing tricks, you will love Amish with a Twist II. WE will be making this quilt starting Monday, November 16th from 10 to 5 pm. Each month will have it's own kit with the fabrics needed to complete the blocks for that month including the pattern. There is a picture of the quilt on our web site.. Remember:  class on Monday, November 16th.


Aunt Sukey's Quilt
Marti came out with Book 5 last year and we loved what we saw in this wonderful book. One of the quilts were named Aunt Sukey's quilt. This quilt has great sashings, borders and 12 wonderful blocks using Marti's Q template set. This class will be from 1 to 5 pm On November 17th. This class  will be every third Tuesday of the month. You will need the book, the template Q set and your fabric requirements. It is a queen size but can be re-figured to your own specific size.



Not Just Another Towel
On Friday, November 13th from 10 to 5pm, we will be making a towel with machine embroidery or traditional applique. Each month we will focus on a different sewing foot and a techniques featuring Tea Towels. You will learn how to use these feet for your sewing machine:  Buttonhole, zipper, edge, pintucking, couching and ruffler. You will receive a notebook to keep all your patterns in for future use. Each month will be $20 which will include your kit to make the project. You will get the project done in class. If you are a machine embroiderer, be sure to bring a USB stick to get the designs on your machine. Our towel for this month will be a towel for April. This class will be the 2nd Friday of each month. If you miss the Towel Day, be sure to ask for a kit to make that month's project.


Country Crossroads Class
 On Thursday, November 12th, we will be working on a beautiful slate blue quilt called "Country Crossroads". This quilt is a Nancy Rink Designs which is the designer of the Amish with a Twist 2 quilt pattern. This quilt is a large 105 X 105 quilt with some applique. This quilt is a beautiful quilt for anyone's bed or as a gift for a family member. We have complete kits in the shop which may be purchased before the class. The kits include the pattern, all the fabric for the top of the quilt -- including the applique and the binding. We will meet on Thursday, November 12th, from 10 to 5 pm. Please stop by the shop to see this quilt for yourself. It is a beauty!


Quilting with Templates

On Tuesday, November 10th, Carol Cummings will be teaching a three part class on Quilting with Templates. The first month we will be using a template and foot that will make quilting look professional. This class will run from 10 to 5 pm. This class will actually save you by quilting your own table runners, table toppers, purses and other smaller projects. And if you really enjoy this technique, you might even use it on a larger quilt. It is beautiful. We have samples of what you will be creating each month.  You will need to bring your 6 X 24 inch ruler to class. Remember this class is on Tuesday, November 10th and December 8th.

Small Business Saturday
On Saturday, November 28th, we will be open from 10 to 5pm to help you shop for Christmas. We are excited about being a part of Berne Downtown. Be sure to look us up on Facebook and be a friend. There are 17 stores from the Shug House Bed and Breakfast to Karen's Treasures. All of the stores will be open on Small Business Saturday to encourage you to shop local. Check it out!


UFO Friday

Engine House would like to help you complete those UnFinished Objects or Projects that you have in your sewing room. So when you sign up for this Club. We will have you fill out a UFO List with 9 projects named that are not complete in your sewing room. Before the club, We will have you draw out one name. This will be your project for the next month. When completed you will draw out another name. We want you to complete each project in a month but if that is not the case you will have three Whopper-Jawed passes which you may use. Once those three Whopper-Jawed passes are used and your project is not completed, you must treat the club with snacks.
Our next club will be on Friday, November 20th at 10 am and go till the last person turns the light out.
December's meeting will be on Friday, December 18th
